Deliverable 3.2. Assessing the compatibility of the existing natural gas infrastructure with H2-NG blends

This deliverable presents the outcomes of the SHIMMER structural integrity activities related to the assessment of the compatibility of existing natural gas infrastructure with hydrogen-containing gas mixtures. The work addresses two related aspects: the structural integrity and defect tolerance of repurposed pipelines under hydrogen service, and the influence of gas quality and gas composition on hydrogen embrittlement behaviour in pipeline steels. Overall, the deliverable contributes to improving the understanding of material compatibility and integrity limitations associated with hydrogen transport in future European multi-gas networks.
